La Mascota by Mascota Vineyards, Chardonnay, 2024
Light and crisp, with surprising structure and staying power.
La Mascota by Mascota Vineyards has some nice structure and character despite being on the lighter side. I think this may actually be my first Argentinian Chardonnay—I usually gravitate toward California or French, although I’ve had Chilean Chardonnay before, including Escudo Rojo.
It has a beautiful pale straw color and a fresh, clean aroma that immediately makes it feel like a great summer wine. What surprised me most was how well it held up over time. I enjoyed the bottle over three days, and it still maintained a nice structure. It naturally became a little lighter as the days went on, but in a pleasant way—it felt more like the wine was evolving rather than simply fading.
I had this wine with chicken salad, which made for an easy, refreshing pairing. On the first day, I also tried it with Puerto Rican lasagna for the first time, and surprisingly, the pairing worked really well.

Verdict Light and crisp, yet with surprisingly nice structure and character for a lighter Chardonnay. Smooth on the palate with a fresh character and a pleasant, long-lasting finish. It held up beautifully over three days, gradually becoming lighter while still maintaining its structure.
