Stein Rosé Trocken, 2024
A Dry Blend from Germany
This wine truly took me by surprise while browsing the shop. Recommended as a dry rosé by the wine salesperson, it immediately caught my interest in exploring more wines from this winemaker. Produced in the Mosel, it comes in a beautifully simple bottle—unsealed around the cork yet still striking—which already hints at its low-intervention, thoughtful approach. The winemaking feels earth-conscious and intentional, something that clearly translates into the glass.
The color is delicate and inviting, and the wine itself is incredibly refreshing. Made primarily from Pinot Noir with a touch of Cabernet and Merlot, it opens with subtle peach and cherry notes, a faint smokiness, and a vibrant line of acidity that carries through to a long, clean finish. Light yet expressive, this is an easy-drinking rosé with real character—so enjoyable that I found myself finishing the bottle over the course of the day (with plenty of water and breaks in between, of course).

Verdict This Mosel rosé was a pleasant surprise—dry, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. Pale, elegant in color, it opens with subtle peach and cherry notes, a light smoky edge, and a clean, vibrant acidity. Made from Pinot Noir with touches of Cabernet and Merlot, it shows depth without heaviness, finishing long and crisp. Easy to drink yet distinctive, this is the kind of wine that disappears faster than expected.
