Louis Roederer
Louis Roederer, Polished and balanced,
I had this Louis Roederer Champagne in Madrid the day before heading back home to Florida — the perfect close to a beautiful trip! It was served in such an elegant way that immediately elevated the experience. While the restaurant didn’t offer paella, we explored other dishes and tried pinchos topped with anchovies and olives and other appetizers, which were surprisingly delicious and paired effortlessly with the wine.
In the glass, the Champagne showed a light yellow hue with steady, elegant bubbles. Aromas of nectarine, apple, and ripe fruit opened into a concentrated citrus core. Soft notes of almond and wheat added another layer. Polished and balanced, it carried through to a long, refreshing finish with vibrant acidity. It complemented the meal beautifully and marked the end of the trip on a memorable note.
Louis Roederer is certainly a well-known Champagne house, although I came a little late to actually tasting it. Luckily, this is also one of those bottles that’s pretty widely available. You may even find it at your nearest Publix, so thankfully, a trip to Madrid isn’t required. #MuchCheaper
