Chateau Rauzan Despagne Bordeaux Blanc
A Great Bordeaux Blanc Choice at Great Value
Château Rauzan Despagne Bordeaux Blanc is a crisp, refreshing white that pairs beautifully with creamy pasta, chicken dishes, shrimp, and even a simple chicken salad. On the palate, the green apple stands out the most for me. I’ve heard others pick up grapefruit—something I personally didn’t detect as strongly. What I really enjoy is that it isn’t overly fruity; instead, it’s well-balanced and easy to appreciate from start to finish.
There’s also a nice freshness that carries through the wine, with a clean, slightly mineral character. The acidity keeps it lively without becoming too sharp, which makes it especially easy to drink with food.
At only $14.99 at Total Wine, it offers excellent value and has quickly become one of my top Bordeaux Blanc choices. Big thanks to Andy for recommending we try a new bottle during our visit—he really enjoyed it too. For whatever reason, this is also one of those wines I can’t seem to find anywhere else. Hopefully that changes, because it’s a bottle I enjoy often and would love to see more widely available.

Verdict (Value Wines) This Bordeaux Blanc opens with aromas of light fruit, lemon, and fresh green apple. On the palate, it’s crisp and refreshing, with the green apple notes taking the lead over the softer citrus elements. The finish is clean, balanced, and pleasantly smooth.
