Madonna Estate Barbera, 2022
Madonna Estate’s Barbera!
I tasted the Madonna Estate Barbera 2022 during a visit to Napa last year, and it remains a memorable part of that trip. The winery itself is beautiful, surrounded by scenic views that made the experience even more special before we even arrived. The associate who hosted us was incredibly welcoming and generous, even offering us extra to try.
This wine reflects that same easygoing, giving, relaxed charm — a fruit-forward Italian-style red that feels light, smooth, and very drinkable. It leans toward the lighter side of the spectrum (light-medium bodied i’d guess), making it a great option for warmer days. With its approachable character and balanced profile, it’s a wine that doesn’t try too hard but still leaves a lasting impression.
I really enjoyed also their Chardonnay (Madonna Estate Chardonnay, 2022), you can see the rating here.

Verdict Ripe berry aromas in the nose, with hints of raisins adding a soft, sun-kissed sweetness. The palate is smooth and light to medium-bodied, showing fresh red fruit with a gentle, rounded texture. Easy and refreshing, it finishes clean with a pleasant, lingering fruitiness.
