Escudo Rojo Reserva Chardonnay (2019)
A Smooth and Refreshing Chilean Chardonnay
Escudo Rojo Baron Philippe de Rothschild Reserva Chardonnay (2019) actually surprised me with its smooth, creamy texture. This wine is bright, fresh, and has subtle aromas of citrus and apple skin. I was able to feel hints of other green fruits which lingered in my palate in a lively way without being overpowering.
I first picked it up after a wine tasting, even though I hadn’t actually tried it there—and I’m glad I did. Next time, I’ll serve it more chilled to highlight those citrusy notes and keep that refreshing finish at its best.
I also think it would pair beautifully with grilled seafood, roast chicken, or a creamy pasta dish. Its freshness can balance richer foods, while its softer texture gives it enough weight to hold its own at the table.
