Château Robin des Moines St Émilion
A Bordeaux with Great Potential
Château Robin des Moines Saint-Émilion was a Bordeaux I genuinely liked, but I recommend decanting it or letting it sit in the glass for a bit. The aroma was much better than the initial taste, showing a beautiful bouquet and deep color right away. I usually enjoy Bordeaux with meat, but this one fell a little flatter than I expected on the palate, though still fair for its price. I also suspect I may not have gotten the best bottle, because I felt a lot of potential underneath. Bordeaux can vary by year, so I’d happily try this again next year—with proper decanting.
Château Robin des Moines comes from a small, seven-hectare vineyard in Saint-Émilion, with vines averaging around 35 years old. Its clay-limestone soils grow mostly Merlot, alongside Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon—a very Right Bank combination.

Verdict The nose shows an attractive bouquet with ripe red and dark fruit, subtle earthiness, and soft spice. On the palate, the wine is smoother but slightly flatter than expected, with a shorter finish. Decanting helps lift the fruit and structure, revealing more of the wine’s underlying character.
